Privacy Policy

1. Summary

This website consists of finished pages without a database. There are no user accounts, comments, forms or newsletters. I do not set cookies. Loading a page contacts Cloudflare only. A YouTube video loads only when you click it. No automated decision-making or profiling takes place.

3. Hosting and delivery

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.

When you open a page, Cloudflare processes technically necessary data:

  • IP address
  • date and time of the request
  • requested address
  • browser and operating system
  • the previously visited page (referrer)

This serves to deliver the website and protect it against attacks. The page cannot be displayed without this data. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest is secure and fast delivery.

Cloudflare processes the data as a processor under Cloudflare’s Data Processing Addendum. Data may be transferred to the USA and other countries. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The transfer is based on the European Commission’s adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR).

I do not analyse individual IP addresses or combine them with other data. How long Cloudflare stores the data is set out in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

4. Statistics with Cloudflare Web Analytics

I use Cloudflare Web Analytics for simple visitor statistics. A small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com measures page views and loading times. It records the requested page, the previously visited page, browser, operating system, device type, country and loading times.

The script sets no cookies, uses no local storage and creates no profiles or fingerprints of individual visitors. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest is understanding which content is read and whether the site loads quickly.

5. Light and dark setting

If you use the light/dark switch, your browser saves this choice in local storage (localStorage) under the name “theme”. The value does not leave your device. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings. The legal basis is Section 25(2) no. 2 of the German TDDDG, because you explicitly request this function.

6. Fonts

The fonts are delivered together with this website. There is no connection to Google or other font providers.

7. YouTube videos

Some posts contain YouTube videos. At first you only see a button, and there is no connection to YouTube. The video loads from youtube-nocookie.com only when you click. Google then receives your IP address and technical data about your device, and may store or read information on your device.

The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Data may be transferred to the USA. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

The legal basis is your consent given by the click (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG). It applies only to that video and ends when you leave the page. More in Google’s privacy policy.

This website links to other websites, including Instagram (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited), LinkedIn (LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company) and Pinterest (Pinterest Europe Ltd.). These are plain links without embedded functions. The provider receives data only when you click a link. From then on, its privacy terms apply.

9. Contact by email or phone

If you write to me or call me, I process your details to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where a contract or its preparation is concerned, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. I delete the data once the enquiry is settled and no statutory retention periods apply.

10. Encryption

The connection to this website is encrypted with TLS. You can recognise this by “https://” in the address bar.

11. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access your stored data (Art. 15)
  • rectification (Art. 16)
  • erasure (Art. 17)
  • restriction of processing (Art. 18)
  • data portability (Art. 20)
  • object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21)
  • withdraw consent with effect for the future (Art. 7(3))

Send me an email to exercise them. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for me is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg.

12. Changes

I adapt this policy when the website or the legal situation changes.
